A daily break to celebrate our salvation in Yeshua (Jesus) and our abundant life through the Torah

The Spirit of the Throne

I did a study of Psalm 45, which is a beautiful description of the Lord in his palace.  Verse 9 says, “…at your right hand is the queen in gold…”  As Yeshua’s bride, this is us, his queen.

One of the things I did when I fully absorbed that concept, is to see myself standing beside him at his throne.

I would spend an hour or so first thing each morning waiting on him there. But unlike my usual waiting posture, I faced outward, looking into the palace and beyond.  Quickly I began to realize how transformative this could be.  This is a place where I can become transformed into his image and see things from his perspective, take in the spirit of that place, the heavenly realm. The following is what I saw over a couple of days.

Being with Yeshua there, I didn’t really see anything specific in what we were looking at.  I could see there was activity going on in our view here and there, spread all over the scene, but it wasn’t really about any specific one of those situations. It was more about taking in the spirit of it.

There’s peace here. There’s only love with no condemnation.  There’s compassion and desire to see righteousness win over – both in peoples’ lives and in the world.  But it’s not a sad desire, it’s a confident expectation. We’re looking at situations that are going to be redeemed.  These are the situations in progress that will come to their rightful end by the Day of the Lord.

Everything is in his purview and there’s no need to strive beyond what he’s doing.  There’s a confident peace no matter what the circumstance, because Yeshua and the Father see it all, and have already redeemed the righteous and restored things to their intended state.  What we’re seeing is the physical realm catching up with the heavenly reality that’s already history.

From here you can see the wheat and the tares/weeds (Matt. 13:24-30) all mingling together around the globe. Some places have more wheat, some places have more tares. But it’s the same everywhere that it’s always been – evil tries to exalt itself and oppress the righteous with deceit and hardship and distraction. But from here you can see that it wouldn’t take much to cast down evil, and good would thrive.

And it was into this that Elohim had decided that Yeshua would come to earth from the inside, as a child, and rise up as one man to expose the evil and bring victory to the oppressed and vanquish it with a word. Just a word or a touch of his power completely destroys the enemy (Matt. 8:16 & 28-34).  That’s how close we are to victory everywhere we look.

And so Yeshua did come, but in human terms, the enemies of righteousness killed him because they feared his victory. But it doesn’t matter, because he’s victorious in death also. And through his death and his breath (John 20:22) he deposited his Holy Spirit into enough people that it could be exponentially multiplied throughout the whole world for centuries to come.  Evil would still persist and oppress good, but righteousness lives forever. He will have — and already has — his final victory over his ancient enemies and creates a whole new heaven and earth with only righteousness (Rev. 21:1-5).

This is the joy set before Yeshua (Hebrews 12:2). This is why our king has the oil of gladness more than his companions, because he hates wickedness and loves righteousness. (Psalm 45:7) And this is the joy set before us if we choose to focus on it.  This is why there’s joy and peace from the throne and not despair over the scene and situations of Earth. Evil is so helpless and fleeting, nothing compared to God’s righteous power.

The more I take in the spirit of his throne, the more “things of earth grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace.” (Helen Howarth Lemmel)

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
    love and faithfulness go before you.

Psalm 89:14
