Month 7 – The Feast of Trumpets & the New Moon

shofar-newmoonWhat’s the only feast that falls on a new moon? Feast of Trumpets! The Feast of Trumpets always begins on Tishrei 1, the beginning of the seventh month on the Hebrew calendar.  It’s always marked by a new moon.

Genesis 1:14 tells us:

Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;'”

Yeshua’s Teaching on Deuteronomy 6-8

Sinai WildernessHave you noticed that the enemy often increases his efforts just as we’re about to approach a victory? We don’t always perceive what’s happening in the moment, but we notice that things get very difficult.  Then all of the sudden, there’s a breakthrough in an area where we’ve been struggling or praying for.

Yeshua’s Ascension Brings a Double Portion on Pentecost

In a separate blog post I discuss how the day of Pentecost/Shavuot kicks-off the new covenant, guarantees our eternal inheritance, and brings new life through the Holy Spirit – enabling us to fulfill our mission and destiny on earth.

As believers in Yeshua, we already carry the Holy Spirit within us every day.  But if we’re prepared for it, I believe there’s a double portion of Yeshua’s Spirit poured out on Shavuot. (more…)

The Day of Pentecost Guarantees Yehovah’s Promises

www.DanKarvasek.comPentecost, Feast of Weeks, Shavuot – the culmination of the omer count, the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit – all on one day.  This is certainly something to celebrate!

My dad was a pastor.  One day he was speaking to another pastor and they got on the topic of the Holy Spirit, which was one of my dad’s favorite topics.  At one point this pastor asked, “So, what’s the big deal about the Holy Spirit?”

Well, my dad was so flabbergasted, he ended up writing a book to answer the question.  It’s called, The Holy Spirit…So What’s the Big Deal?

It IS a big deal!  And…in my opinion, it’s a big deal in a whole series of big deals. (more…)

Resting in God’s Faithfulness: Faith for Fear

DSC_0313In an earlier post, I shared how God had helped me identify six idols in my life – those things I put my trust in either in addition to Him or instead of Him.  After a 40-day examination of my attitudes toward them, I realized they were borne out of fear—fear of losing those things I depended on for security.  During that time God provided me a new perspective more closely aligned with His desire for my abundant life and which helped me to stay in his place of peace and rest.

A year later, I still kept God’s word to me on my desk: (more…)

If MY People

Image271“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14

I found this verse repeating in my head, so I posted it in a place where I’d see it every day, a place where I typically pray for my friends and family as I’m starting my day.  I continued my routine of praying for various people, and the verse stayed on my wall for probably three weeks.

I came to understand the power of this statement:  (more…)

Alignment with God’s Promises Brings God’s Blessings

3God has promised us so many blessings in His word.  Many of these are conditional – that is, they require something of us in order for God’s full blessing to be released.  Some of the most familiar are the “be-attitudes”:  “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”  (Matthew 5:7-9)

There are three promises I’ve decided to make a pursuit of mine in recent years — promises of blessings that require my action.  These are probably some of the most explicit promises of blessing in the Bible, yet possibly some of the most overlooked.  I began pursuing these three within a few months of each other.  Not too long afterward I felt showered in unexpected blessings.
